Additional APW Register
Many of the children in the Pinnacle School APW Register appear simultaneously in a Waikaka Valley School APW Register. I believe this to be because:
1. This original Pinnacle School Register is incomplete and has at one point (c.1880) been re-written into a new Register. In general those children who are at the school at this point in time are transferred to the new register while those that have left the school are not. 2. The new Pinnacle School Register’s contents ceases in July of 1886 with many students listed with the destination of Gordon School. This is in keeping with the impending closure of Pinnacle School in September of 1886. 3. At some point the Pinnacle Register has been relabelled as a Waikaka Valley School Register. This was likely due to the Pinnacle school and residence being transferred to the Waikaka Valley site (see Waikaka Valley School and District Jubliees publication [LC 993.185 WAI]), and it being common for records to be transferred to the successor school as well. This Register can be found amongst the Waikaka Valley School records.
