Materials Specific Details
The Minutes open with a Notice of AGM , to be held 15/10/1941, and the VIth Annual Report for the year to September 1941. Items of interest include the recommendations for the future election of two committees. One to be responsible for finance and capital, and the other a Ladies' Committee to cater for social function. The strength of the Troop is given in the Report, which is also notable for the account of local support for and generosity towards major projects.
In keeping with the times, some reports mention numbers of former Sea Scouts serving overseas with NZ troops. Also the names of those killed or missing in action.
Between pages 22 and 23, is a handwritten letter to which is attached a list of Members recommended for Warrants and Letters of Authority.
P.31 & 35: 1943 names of subscribers, donors.
P.43: List of amenities available to the scouts.
P.46: Minutes of an informal meeting on 28/10/1943, lists names of stall holders and their helpers for the Bring and Buy Sale which realised Two hundred and seventy pounds, seven shillings and seven pence - a significant sum for the times. A full list of competition winners is given on p.53.
P.63: 3 handwritten reports attached to Minutes of 21/3/1944. Also on p.67.
P.78: from here on, reports and correspondence are inserted/attached to minutes.
AT THE BACK: 3-page summary and history of Jellicoe Sea Scouts 2/12/1935 to 23/10/1947. Also Annual Reports: No.17, and No.16.
