DEAR DOROTHY Well old dear here goes for my first Letter to you for the new year. I hope you had a good time during the holidays. I am still in hospital but as my wrist is practically healed I am expecting to be in my way back to the unit in a few day’s time. I have just been along to another ward talking to Rupert Hubbard, who is also in hospital at present. He said he would be away out by the end of the week and also said he had had a letter from you two days ago. Since I have been here in hospital I have been helping the nurses with serving out meals, washing dishes and so on so who knows when I come home I may apply for a job with you. Ray Dell was in yesterday to see some chaps and wished to be remembered to you. He is down in this town in four day’s leave. Well Dot I must close now and will write a letter in a day or so. Lots of love and kisses. You loving brother, ERIC. xxxx
