Dear Mum & all at home, During the last three days I have received three big cakes from you and also an airgraph from Maisie dated 26th August. Many thanks to all of you, the cakes all arrived in good order. Yesterday I received a cake from Ruby, just after I had posted an airgraph to her so would you tell her it arrived. I will write to her again in a few day’s time. I am pleased to hear that wee Neil is doing much better, send my love to Frances, Stuart and family. I suppose you will have seen Albert Kerse by now and may have also seen Jock by the time you receive this. I wrote to Mr Wilson a few days ago but if you see him any time give him my regards. Also remember me to Charlie and Hugh. I have been buying some more plastic hairclips and hooks & eyes as well as two pair of gloves for Lenore, so will be sending another parcel of all these odds and ends in a few days’ time. Unfortunately just now, I cannot get any decent big things to send, so am trying to get odds and ends that are hard for you to get. Later on I hope to be able to send you a big parcel. The grapes are still in good supply, but the people have started picking them to make wine. Will say cheerio now. Lots of love to all of you and many thanks for the parcels. Your loving son. Eric. xxx
