Biographical / Historical
Lorne Hospital, located out in Lorneville, was closed and then demolished in 1998. The hospital was over 100 years old and fulfilled a variety of purposes over the years including a stint as a children's orphanage, a rest home and a home for elderly men. Elm Court Rest Home was built down by the Southland Hospital and opened in 1997 [to take care of the residents from Lorne Hospital]. Elm Court ran for five years and was officially closed in June 2002.
