Longridge North School
When Longridge North opened c. 1887, it's first appointed teacher Mr John Kelly was poached by the Balfour school committee, making the first teacher instead a Miss Mary McWilliam. Pupils were taught in a small shed while the school was built on land donated by the NZ Land Company at the Longridge North crossroads.
It was the last school in the area to consolidate with Balfour, doing so in 1948.
