Rebekah Lodges

Officially called the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies or Daughters of Rebekah, these lodges were started as a women-only branch of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. Women could only originally join if they had a male family member in the Oddfellows, but membership was eventually opened up to all women (and later men).

They are a charitable, humanitarian group who are involved in such activites as caring for the elderly and children, financial and educational support, and support of environmental and aid relief causes.

Symbols associated with the Rebekahs are the beehive, moon and stars, the dove and the lily. Their philosophy is “To live peaceably, do good unto all, as we have opportunity and especially to obey the Golden Rule, Whatsoever ye would that others should do unto you, do ye even so unto them.”
