Pahia School
Due to the establishment of Round Hill, the generally growing European population and the railway extension from Riverton to Orepuki, there was soon a need for a school in Pahia, Round Hills neighbouring district. In 1885 a fairly large school of around 75 pupils was opened. Miss Mary Service was the school’s first teacher, teaching for a number of years (1885-1892).
Another school, Wakaptau School, operated from 1937-1954, and joined with Pahia upon its closure. Pahia then closed its doors in 1997.
