Overview

In this interview Dorothy recalls her father working on the Railways, living a Waihoaka and shifting to a farm at Pahia, her education at Pahia School, working at home to help with the milking and to look after her mother and then working in the local store. Their farm was self sufficient with cows, sheep hens and a large vegetable garden. Dorothy goes on to tell of her siblings and their occupations, school life, social life and sporting interests. She tells of her marriage to Don and their life on his family farm, their leisure activities and involvement in their local community. On retirement they moved to Waimate and then to Alexandra. Dorothy talks of the closeness with her extended family and of a cousin’s reunion.
