In this interview Tui talks about her 5 decade-long career as a maternity nurse. She began her training at St Helen's and had a 14 year tenure as a maternity nurse at Dee Street Maternity Hospital. She also recounts her personal experience giving birth to her second child at the Dee Street Maternity Hospital. When her children were young Tui worked regular school hours but this changed after 5 years, in the early 1970s, when her hours were changed to 8 hours shifts in the morning or afternoon with occasional night duties when things got busy. Tui recalls the closure of the maternity hospital in 1979 being marked by festivities including a garden party for the around 250 maternity nurses who had trained there since the first intake in 1952. Tui then moved to the new Obstetric Unit at Kew Hospital, where she worked until her retirement.
