Overview
Peggy starts by describing growing up in Morton Street, siblings, friends, games and neighbours. She talks of holidays in the country, education and employment at Whitcombe and Tombs. She recalls the different departments that operated with in the store as well as a Social Club and Sports Club. Peggy recollects other staff members who became heads of departments. Peggy was the head of the magazine department and details this work. She goes onto recall other businesses that operated around Whitcombe and Tombs; as well as visiting celebrities to the store and Invercargill e.g. Joy Adamson, Graham Kerr, John A Lee, the Everly Brothers and Queen Elizabeth.
