William talks of his family history and moving to Niagara where his father worked in the sawmill. He tells of his education at Niagara and Waikawa schools, chores and trips to Invercargill annually on the train. His family shifted to Wellington and after he became a photo engraver, he took up employment with Craigs in Invercargill and played for Blues Rugby Club. William became a Member of the Graphics and Arts Federation and explains the process of photo engraving, the history of Craigs and of working there. He did this work until the introduction of computers after that he did lithoplates to produce books until his retirement. William talks of life in Glengarry and that community before retiring to Riverton where he also became involved in the community.
