Overview

In this interview Esther recalls family history, life and work on the family farm where her father initially milked 30 cows by hand before the purchase of the milking machine in 1927. She goes onto recall her education, games played and family entertainment which included picnics to Waituna Lagoon and Oreti beach being taken on the back of a truck her father had purchased. Esther goes onto to talk of her marriage to Ben, their family life and life on their 210 acre farm. Ben went to war and Esther recalls this time. She recalls life on the farm after marriage, her involvement with Women’s Division, Grandchildren and her move to Invercargill after the death of her husband.
