Overview
This interview was recorded as part of the Gorge Road Project. Cyril starts his interview recalling family history, his parents and how they met and travelled to New Zealand in 1919. They first lived around Winton before shifting to Gorge Road when Cyril was 5 years old. Cyril describes the layout of Gorge Road township. He goes on to talk about the preparation of the land for crops after they have been used for dairying. He tells of milking by hand and storing the milk cans in the creek overnight. During his interview Cyril recalls many aspects of life during these times and includes: rabbiting, eeling, the use of coal ranges, people who have influenced his life and community events. He gives a detailed account of life and customs of the era and for the district.
