In this interview Dorothy covers many and varied topics including: historical buildings around Invercargill, the Gap Road Flax Mill, her education and the school frame work of the time, the Depression, preparations for war and hearing news of the war via the radio and cinema. As well as her social interests, marriage, life in the Winton Community and hobbies, which include antiques and genealogy. Dorothy established and managed the school Canteen at Central Southland College.
