Graeme recalls his involvement in sports including rowing and rugby, both playing and coaching. He also recounts the Riverton communities’ strong interest and support of rowing. He recalls locals e.g. Fred Smith, Bob Flutey and Dickie Wixon who received the Military Medal, and Sgt John Hinton who was awarded the Victoria Cross. Graeme talks about Rex Austin becoming a member of Parliament and describes his life. Graeme goes on to describe local industries and his employment as a postman. He started his career in the Post Office as a telegram boy during the war and went onto to qualify as an operator of morse code. He describes the postal service and the transition of the telephone exchange from plug in to automatic. He describes the various functions of the Post office e.g. receiving power, insurance, motor reg payments, and the Births Deaths and Marriages register there. Graeme held a number of secretaryships including: Rowing Club, Trotting Club, Regatta committee and Anglican Church. He became a JP in 1977. Graeme also recalls local sporting identities and local stories.
