Overview
Annie tells her family history and meeting her husband and their marriage of over 50 years. When they were first married, they lived in a cottage at Trails Mill near Riverton. She gives a brief history of this time and of the area. Within her family she had an Uncle John Holland who invented the Holland submarine, which was the first submarine in the British navy. Annie talks about her children and their education and employment. She gives further details of Moore’s Mill owners, managers and bushman. 1949 saw the family move to Riverton. Kenneth recalls his employment at the Riverton dairy factory and the various jobs he undertook there. He also notes the people he worked with and those who supplied the factory and the processes involved in cheese making. The cheese was taken to Bluff for export. Kenneth noted the changes within the industry over time and in 1976 the factory closed with all milk then going to Edendale. When the factory closed Kenneth went to work at Riverton Hospital.
