The sign that accompanies these panels states: This Tukutuku is one of a series of 16 panels that were completed by the many hands of community groups. This was a marae based project, with an aim to bring Maori Art to the community. This panel was designed and created by members of Nga Hau E Wha Marae. It is proudly donated to Invercargill Public Library.

The artists were later identified as Kathey Townsend, Polly Thompson and Mary Henry.
