Biographical / Historical
Situated outside the Post Office Square, on Dee Street, along from the Crescent. The image shows a demonstration of K-R-I-T motor cars, during the Invercargill Winter Show, 18 June 1912. by the K-R-I-T Motor Car Company. K-R-I-T vehicles were manufactured in Detroit, Michigan from 1909-1916,
Shown in the background is the original National Bank building. It was part of a section of buildings on Dee Street constructed by John Henry Smith between 1867 and 1872. The National Bank took over the lease of this particular building from the Bank of Otago in 1872.
