The first meeting on 8/5/1946 as chaired by Mr Niederer, representing the North Invercargill Hall Committee, and concerned a meeting of all those interested in playing indoor basketball and who were also finding it difficult to find a suitable venue for games. It was the intention of the Hall committee to find a way to enable young people of the suburb to use the Hall for indoor sport , the present interest being indoor basketball.
Club committee formed - E G Walker, President; C W Snow,Secretary; Provisional Committee- Miss S Belsham; Messrs M. Burgess, G. Herbison, B. Dalton and B.Mackay. Also two Physical Welfare Officers - Mrs Wilson and Mr H.C. Bradley. From may 1946 meetings were held in the AA Buildings in Don St.
The following minutes concern organisation of regular games evenings, tournaments, social functions, preparation of club constitution, fees, transfers and fundraising. P.28: 24/4/1948 - 8 men's teams and 6 ladies' teams accepted for the 1948 season. From 1950 minutes are typed and taped to pages of the minutes book, but Minutes of AGM's are not necessarily in chronological order.
P.181: President's Report 27/3/52 - the method of attachment obscures pp.3-5 of the Report. From p.187 to 192, Annual Reports are filed in reverse order.
AT THE BACK: two annual reports for '57 and '58 seasons with a note of names on newsprint. Also a Deed of Covenant between Invercargill Indoor Basketball League (Inc).and others, with the Southland Community Centre Society 1957.
