This item is a blue 'Olympic ' exercise book, blue cover and red binding. The record begins with the minutes of the first meeting which was held in the Physical Welfare Rooms, Kelvin st on 2/11/1949.
Committee Members present: Mesdames Wesney, Sloan; Misses Belsham, Wilson; Messrs Mackay, Dalton, McDowall, Aitken, Wilson, Murray and Ward.
Fund Raising Activities suggested: * a touring concert party to be called 'On the Ball Revue'. * carnival and bazaar * baby sitting * Dance in the Buffalo Hall, proceeds to be 50:50 with Mr Styles * raffles
Suggested venues for the Concert Party: Nightcaps, Riverton, Otautau, Wyndham, Winton, Woodlands, Bluff, Gorge-Road, Lumsden.
1952: Only one set of minutes for this year. Regular meetings resume in 1953 when a site for the new stadium is grnated - behind Surrey Park School.
1953: Name Change to North Invercargill Indoor Baskeball League. Amendment to club name in 1959 - Invercargill Indoor Basketball League (Inc). The Badminton Club, as a potential user, was mentioned in 1953 and on 13 February 1960, the table Tennis Assn. was granted use of the hall on Thursday evenings. Sub-committees were then formed to be responsible for: equipment, canteen, stadium, competitions, emergencies, selectors and a cleaning roster was set up.
Throughout the 1960's difficulties are described in maintaining the stadium in a secure and clean state, given the variety of users. A predominant theme to meetings. A sign was erected 11/8/1060 stating ownership of the stadium as being the property of the Invercargill Basketball league(Inc). Minutes of committee meetings cease after 16/3/1961.
