The history of the first 40 years of the NZ Girl Guides is set out, in a Time Line. Photos of guides involved in a variety of activities and of adults involved, can be seen. The range and scope of Girl Guide activities will surprise the reader:
*during WWII the Guides joined others across the british Empire to raise funds for Air Ambulances - NZ Guides gave one thousand pounds.
*1941: made 3,000 camouflage nets for NZ Army
*fund raised for 'Trefoil Huts' for the soldiers
*1944: collected clothing which was sent to Great Britain, France, Holland, Poland, Greece, Malta and Malaya
POST WAR -
*1949: posted parcels containing seeds, tinned food and school requirements, in answer to a request from 'Corso', to China.
*1959s - distributed clothing to children in Korea; sold Girl Guide Biscuits and spent time in community service.
