Dear Dot I received your most welcome letter a day or so ago ad glad to hear that you have not forgotten me yet. I wrote to your Mum a couple of days ago and let her know that I am still in one piece. Glad to hear that you had a swell time at the Island, it would be quite a change for juggling (sic) bed pans. We have shifted again but unfortunately farther away from old NZ, the papers will tell you all about our latest sojourn, I can’t. The day we arrived we captured a Jap, the aforesaid Son of Heaven was lying practically unconscious behind a log with a shrapnel wound in his head, but after expert medical attention was given by war weary battle scarred veterans of the famous 22nd Fld Amb he rallied round and surveyed his captors with a critical eye, we didn’t get much out of him however as he “no speaka de English.” Well Dot old dear I have not more news just now so will bring this little scribble to a close. Hoping to hear from you again soon. Lots of love Chas xxxx
p.s. kind regards to Fran and Stuart CW xxx
