Dear Dorothy & all at home Just a few more lines to let you know everything is O.K. with me and I hope all is well with you at home. I will not be able to write you a long letter this time as the is nothing mush to write about. A few days ago I met Bob Smith or “Pommy” as we used to call him once he asked me to send you all his regards. You will remember him I think he used to work for the New Zealand Express Co. in Dunedin and was down in Invercargill helping us to install milking-machines for a few weeks. At present I do not see any signs of Jock or Albert Kerse as were are scattered about all over the place, but will meet up with them one of these days

Note:

John [Jock] Forbes Henderson #17716 – Eric’s cousin

Charles Albert Kerse #15739 – Eric’s cousin

soon. How are you all at home, all well I hope, and how is our wee Lenore doing. I have her name painted on my bus, but I think I told you that in the last letter I wrote. I had my photo taken alongside it a couple of days ago so will end it home to you when we get back to some town to get it developed. I have just finished dinner and have had a few times on the piano accordion and am now trying to write a few lines. How is Aunty May doing now, I suppose you still get a few line from her, give her my regards next time you write to her. Last week I wrote to you and sent some negatives and also a photo of our mascot’s (Rommel) grave so hope they reach you safe and sound. I have had two letters from you then but have not got the rest so far. A while back I was attached to another unit for two weeks and

my mail has apparently going out to it, so there must be some mine with it. However one of these days it will catch up with me and then I will be to write a better letter to you. How is Corporal Henderson getting on with the Home Guard, it will be a blow if Dad puts me on the mat when I get back home. I have a chap named Harry Bell from the West Coast on the Ambulance as Orderly with me now as Harry Anderson had to go to hospital with Tonsillitis, and he also plays the guitar. Harry Anderson left his guitar with us so we knock out a few tunes together when we have a bit of spare time. Remember me to Frances and Stuart and tell them I will write them another note as soon as I get a chance. Also remember me to Mr and Mrs MacDonald and all those who have been asking how I am

doing. Do you ever hear from Alex and Kath nowadays if so give them my regards next time you write to them. Well everyone I am afraid I will have to close now as news has run out. Give wee Lenore a big hug for me. Well I will say cheerio just now everyone. Lots of love and kisses Your loving brother, Eric
