Darlingst, Loveliest, Dear Old Dorothy (?)
Hells! Bells! Call me an old horse “lots of love old horse.” Gee! I’ll – I’ll - break your poor wee slender neck for you when I get home. Forgive? Of course, you poor wee girlie, I’ll forgive you for the time being, but when I get home? Yes! I’ll forgive you. It must sure worry you quite a lot, getting so thin and feeble. Damn it all, you will soon be as light as me. I’m only about twelve stone at present and I’m sure you can’t be keeping too well now that you have reduced so much. Really it is too bad if you miss me so much that it is affecting your health? What’s that you are saying? My left ear is quite hot. Yes, my left one. Wait till I have another look at that letter of yours I got last night. It was written on the 7th May. Quite a time getting here. Yes, a very cheeky hound. My dear old girl, one part of the letter I am

referred to as an old horse. Just use that block you have on top of your shoulders & think carefully (providing there is anything inside to think with) and you will find out that there is a vast difference between a hound and a horse. Just balance the budget a little & you might try & make me out as a mule of even a camel. Well I object to being referred to as looking like either. I’ll sure knock you into shape when I get home! Oh yes! I was two and a half months in hospital but just forget about that, I’m fit & well and have been through some tough outfits since then & I’m quite capable of cutting those nails of yours. Laugh that one off. I’ll bet wee Lenore is the life of the house now. You know I miss Alison an awful lot & won’t it be grand to get back again. I saw quite a bit of Eric when we were up in Syria, but have not seen him since. I suppose he is still going strong. He gave me a snap of the whole family taken when he was on leave.

You think I’m a very brave wee fellow talking so much about what I am going to do to you. Just remember those thoughts old tart & I’ll promise you I won’t require Mum’s assistance to hold you while I take a few inches of your – nails you call them, don’t you? Perhaps I can forgive you for a lot as you have the decency at least to say that you miss that funny old face of mine coming round the corner. Well, you will see it again if my luck holds good & my young “mountain of beef” you better get a steel plate made as I intend to put you across my knees (providing they will stand the weight) and spank you. HA. HA laugh that one off Well, my nice wee, delicate, lovely bunch of – daintiness, I guess I have worked of a bit of stem trying to ask your forgiveness for all the nasty things you make me call you? I enjoy your letters immensely & get quite a kick out of them. Well my love, I hope your health improves and you regain your normal weight? Cheerio to all, lots of love from your loving ? cousin Jock (what did you say?)
