The Cochrane Family
The Cochrane Family story begins with the earliest known forbear William Cochran, born in Roslin, Scotland c.1736. Married to Jean Pringle, their nine children have formed several branches of the Cochrane family, one of which is the Cochrane's of Heddon Bush.
In 1893 Andrew Cunningham Cochrane and his wife Emma Eliza (nee Simpson) moved to Heddon Bush to a block of land Andrew named "The Lothians". He had previously managed the Annandale Estate. At Heddon Bush he grew ryegrass, wheat and oats, and had some 395 sheep. They had four children.
Around 1901 the original farmhouse burned down and a smart new weatherboard dwelling was built. It had a "Shacklock" cast iron coal range, a cast iron enamel bath and five bedrooms each with a fireplace.
Andrew passed away in 1925 and Emma in 1954.
Donald Cochrane is the grandson of Andrew Cochrane.
