Queens Park School
Queens Park school was officially opened July 1914 on the Collegiate Reserve site at the North End of Queens Park. It was the product of the union of Invercargill Park School and Gladstone (Waihopai School).
The name only lasted one year before it was changed to Waihopai in 1915 because there was already in existence a Queens Park School in the North Island.
The reserve site chosen for this new school was previously a dairy farm owned by Mr James Jamieson. The farm buildings stood where the school was to be built.
Note: for information on the continuation of this school see Waihopai School
