Biographical / Historical

DXing is the hobby of listening to overseas radio stations. Listeners are known as Dxers.

The Southland Branch started about 1949 but listeners had been receiving shortwave and medium-wave stations from overseas since the late 1920s.

Arthur Cushen was an Invercargill listener known worldwide, official station monitor, author and Branch member.

The Branch ceased in the early 2000s as members passed on and the hobby was replaced by other...
activities.

The material consists of Branch Newsletters, meeting minutes and lists, called Logs of the stations members heard.

ADCOM was the Administration Committee and the Southland Branch was the Administrative Branch for the national body on several occasions.
