01:18 Born in Invercargill in 1945 Lived in Mokotua, brick and rough cast house. Oldest of four children, Russell, Paul and Barry. 02:20 Father born at Morton Mains. Farmer, war, (WW2), shearer. Mixed farming, dairy and sheep. 200 acres, 50 cows.
04.01 Oteramika School, Bus and biked. Step through girl’s bike. Teachers: Mr Wright, Mr Hackey, Mr Scully. 2 roomed school, about 30 children.
05:40 Good friend, Lynne McCorkindale. Went to each others places but not sleep overs. Walked
06:30 Dad bought and old bus. Became a play house. Played dolls out there.
07:20 James Hargest school. Some first Day Pupils still there. Took cooking and sewing. Left school at 15.
07.45 Work. Shop Assistant in H & J Smith, Invercargill. Mantle department-knitwear and sports wear. Brands: Knitwear-Glen Guile, Sportscraft, Tea cowl (?)
08:40 Not quite 17 when I got married. 1965. Marriage arrangements detailed.
09:16 Lived Waituna at Murray’s home farm. There 6 months. Murray’s father passed away. Farm sold.
09:33 Worked for 6 years on two different sheep and beef farms.
09:50 Children born, Grant 1966, Mark 1968, Jan 1970. Dee Street Maternity Hospital. 14 days for first baby, 10 for there after. Bed a lot of the time. Got your baby every 4 hours. Detailed description of time in hospital.
11:40 Youngest brother Barry, was 4 years older than eldest son, Grant. Spent a lot of time with Judith and Murray.
12.15 Gorge Road, sheep and beef farm.
12:21 Mokotua, purchased 50 acres then 40 acres. 1972. There for four years. Husband worked on another farm and for Rabbit Board. I looked after the farm and the children.
13.32 Sheep farming. Grant at school.
14:09 Bought a run down dairy farm at Kapuka. 50 acres, 70cows. Purchased 175 acres, son came home to the farm. Milk 300 and something now.

00:09 Childrens’ sport rugby and netball.
00:17 Day on the farm-up at 6 o’clock. Murray would get the cows in. I get things ready in the shed. Also making sure children were getting ready for school. Back out on farm, always worked with Murray.
01:17 Drove School Bus. Back 9.30. Work either on farm or in house. Drove School Bus again in afternoon. Back to the cow shed. Tea, bed. 5 days a week.
02:12 Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days on the farm. Story.
02:38 Contracting business. Children had left home. Murray got carpel tunnel and couldn’t milk cows any more. Eldest son came home and Judith and Grant milked the cows. Murray bought a tractor and a baler. Long hours. I would have to do the cows on my own. Did the office part of the contracting. Next son arrives home from Australia so started to grow the contracting business.
04:38 Eldest son bought farm. Other son installed in contracting.
04:57 Retirement. Still got 50 acres. Grazing dairy cows for the winter. Bought a motor home and plan to do a lot more travelling.
