Overview
In this interview Jane shares her experiences with muttonbirding and her ancestral muttonbirding rights. She describes these trips by sea and the living conditions on the Islands as well as landing from the boats. There were no jetty’s and so everything had to be pulled up from the rocks by wires. Jane describes the muttonbirding process from catching to processing. She goes on to share her family history and her 3 sons who all worked for the Southland Times as journalists before moving to live overseas as journalists, this lead to Jane having many overseas trips and she recalls living in Bluff in the same house since 1939.
