This interview was recorded as part of a project to celebrate of 125 years of Women's Suffrage in New Zealand. In this interview, Sumaria talks of growing up in Bluff where she played a lot of sports and would go out with her father on his fishing boat. When she moved from Bluff to Sydney for work she recalls the shock of the big city and contrasts the two places. On returning to NZ, she worked on Treaty Settlements for Ngai Tahu and details this work. She returned to Bluff and worked at the Marae on various projects. She went on to start Bluff Healthy Homes now known as Awarua Synergy. Sumaria details their journey with this project before going onto recall family businesses and lessons learned from these. She shares her expectations in the future for her daughter and her own future aspirations.
