In this interview Carley talks about growing up in Gore and her first experiences visiting Fiordland from the age of 10. Carley talks about her nursing training and meeting husband George, who she married in 1951. Not long after their marriage they moved to Fiordland and lived at Cascade Creek. They moved into Te Anau so that their eldest son could attend primary school and Carley started a Bed and Breakfast. George took up fishing and was away a lot so Carley got a job as a radio operator. Carley recalls what Te Anau and the surrounding area was like when she visited as a teenager including visits to the recently discovered glow worm caves. She also recounts some information about George, who was too frail to be interviewed himself. Written material about George is included with this interview.
