Overview

In this interview Sonny details family history and farming techniques in the 1920s and their transition to more modern ways and machinery. He also talks about school as well as ways of earning pocket money, which he used to go to the Riverton Regatta. He goes onto describe his WW2 service in the Middle East and names some people he meet/knew during this time. Sonny tells of his marriage to Elsie and their farming life and the purchase of their sheep and dairy farm. He became a member of the RSA and after Elsie passed away, he went to Riverton where he became more involved in RSA and with the Early Settlers Museum. Sonny also gives some background on Thornbury e.g. the trains into Thornbury, managers of the Thornbury store, Village Blacksmith and Saddler as well as mentioning some of the local identities.
