Overview

This interview was recorded as part of the Women's Suffrage Oral History Project (Celebrating 125 Years). In this interview Sarah reflects on family life and dynamics as she was growing up and her views of these. After a number of years working in various jobs, Sarah began her career in journalism at the Southland Times. The topics she wrote about were relevant to the times and she regarded her self as a feminist. She goes on to talk about how she met her husband, and how the dating scene worked at the time. She also recalls what was seen to be acceptable treatment of females by males which really wasn’t acceptable.
