Overview
In this interview Nola shares childhood memories of family, education, sports, the depression, employment, games and interests e.g., playing the bagpipes. She details meeting her husband, planning their wedding and mountaineering honeymoon. They built their first house in Joseph Street, before shifting to Otatara and building there on a life style block. Nola also shares a story of husband, Jim, joining the Nepal Expedition with Sir Edmund Hillary and an accident Jim had there and his subsequent recovery in Burwood Hospital. Jim was also heavily involved in Save Manapouri which Nola supported. Nola and Jim went on to travel extensively.
