Overview
Marjorie’s interview covers her life growing up in Charlton District where her family had settled in 1911. It includes home memories, neighbours, the size of farms in the district, Charlton Hall, picnics, telephone, party line and their garden. Also mentioned is Charlton School, holidays, Gore High School, Gore Airport, Marjorie’s 90th birthday and the launch of family history publication “Both sides of the Hokonuis”. Majorie's interview also covers manual training, The Depression and swaggers, Marjorie’s first job, meeting Dave McLeod, marriage and family. During World War Two Marjorie had three brothers in essential work here and two overseas.
