Overview

Louis recalls his family history telling of marriages and occupations of family members and the depression. The family lived in Western Southland. He tells of his dad and the Nuttall Band that played dance music and accompanied the Silent Movies at the theatre. He recalls a trip made by the Governor-General to Riverton. Louis goes on to recall his education and some of the names of the children who travelled to school in Riverton on the bus. He talks about the Christian input in the family and the Home Guard which his father was involved with as well as his (Louis’s) marriage to Grace and the winning of a ballot for land. He recalls social life and events in Riverton.
