Overview
Letitia Douglas was born in Invercargill in 1916 and lived there all her life. In this interview she recalls her education at Waihopai School and Southland Girls High School and her maternity, Plunket, midwifery and postgraduate nursing training. She describes joining Guides in 1929 and being in the Southland Girls High School Company and the St John's Church Guide Company. Overview
Alva talks of family history, her education at Milburn School and Tokomario District High School in Milton. She recalls washing being done in the boiler, learning Highland dancing at which she won many medals going on to teach Highland dancing herself. Was too short to be accepted for nurse training in Dunedin so went to Invercargill to train. She was taken on by Dr Hunter as a trail with two others and remained.
