Content Description From the Record Group: These two postcards came from the postcard collection of Walter Sutherland Tompkins. W.S. Tompkins was born in Mangaweka 1901 to Ernest Walter Tompkins and Catherine Jane (nee Cockburn). Many of the family aunts and uncles would send Walker postcards for his Birthday, Christmas or just to let him know they were thinking of him. Walter was a great collector of postcards and had approx. 100 in total. The two donated to the Invercargill City Archive are the two speicfically identified as being...

Overview Mayor Abraham Wachner with representatives of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and City Council, observing the RNZAF Band march-past and parade outside the Invercargill Civic Theatre, 1942. Squadron Leader S.L. Gilkinson in attendance to give Salute. The parade was part of a nationwide tour by the RNZAF Band to promote the Air Force during World War 2.
