Overview Joseph tells of family history, his education and life at Cambrian in Central Otago which was a gold mining settlement where his father mined. He describes trapping rabbits, and his involvement in rugby and cricket. He talks about the history of Cambrian, where there were some rich gold diggings when his family arrived. Joseph goes on to talk about his employment first in an orchard, then as a rabbitter at Blackstone Hill Station and then as a shearer. He trained in the Air Force but did not go...

He goes on to detail his employment as a technician with the automatic exchange and wool stores e.g. switch room, PABX, and cable jointer. He tells about the Invercargill floods in 1978 and 1984 and the effects on lines etc. Noel tells in detail his fascination with trams and his life and work on the Manapouri Power Scheme.
